RSC is Back!

Well, after a very long spell of downtime, we're finally back online. We can't say just how happy we are to be back, and this post will give you a quick run-down of the problems, the solutions, and the plans for the future.

The downtime was taken at very short notice to prevent serious data loss that would have spelled the end of RSC.
We had many problems during the down-time, ranging from service providers dropping us at the last minute (for unknown reasons), to technical issues that just took ages to solve with our very, very small team.
We have a totally new server set-up, one that will be scalable to our demands, and should be much more reliable (hat-tip to I3D).
Not all of the work planned was accomplished, due to the aforementioned problems. The forum theme, and the front-page in general, are still under development, as are some smaller aspects of the new forum structure.
We now have a new front page which will be packed with news and reviews, in association with VirtualR.
If you haven't seen it already... CHECK IT OUT!
We have some great plans for the future, which we'll reveal in time, including a radical 're-do' of the whole subsites system. Stay tuned!

As you can see, we've totally blown our doubters' opinions out of the water, and we're back with significant strength. Please do bear with us as we monitor the demands on the forum, and allow for some instability and slowness in the first few days (as the forum undoubtedly gets pounded by you lot

).

We're going to be monitoring people's comments, and we've set up some threads for feedback on each of the major improvements. Please use these threads to discuss the issues, so we can best understand your views.

Welcome back to all of you, it's been a long wait but we hope you are all ready to reinstate RSC as an integrated part of your daily surfing routine.
This old behemoth has had a blood transfusion and now it's ready to rock'n'rumble again, but it can only become the RSC of old with your help. As always RSC is what we all make it, nothing more and nothing less... so get busy posting and keep it clean & friendly. Give a round of applause to James for his tireless efforts to get things back in shape, and for pushing me to get my small part done
