JSJ GPLshift for non-ActLabs devices?? [forum post: 265270]

How can I make JSJ GPLshift utility work if I don't use a Act Labs Shifter? I am using a regular joystick as a shifter, you know, just Upshift and Downshift. What I want to use is the other features like, emulate SHIFT-R and all the extra views and some others.

After you install JSJ's patch, check in the GPLshift.ini file and changing the following:

code:

[ ACT LABS Shifter ]
Shifter_Version = NONE

[ Clutch Device ]--------------------------------------------------------------
Clutch_Threshold = 0

I think this is all you need to do.

Jason,

How does this work for FOV views. I've always used Stones setup, with the Flagman utility. So far on my new system, i've installed FOV. What do I need to do to get the JSJ patch working. Does it do all that Stones did? Do I still use GPLSA? I sit a little higher, so I know I need it for that. Will it still work with Flagman?

JSJ Shifter does everything Stones' patch did but for all circuits without needing to remember to set it up for each track.

to change your FOV you need to use this section:

[ ZOOM ]-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoom_In_Out_Mode = KA

All other entries can be left at default

As shown it is setup for using the cursor keys. Just press the up and down arrows until you are happy with the forward view. Then press the home key to save this setting. It will remamber this setting each time you use gpl but it is different for each car so if you change cars then you will need to tweak it.

It works fine with moving the pitboard with the flagman utility and with raising yourself slightly for a better view.

I didn't do it at the time but I would like to thank Stones for the utility he wrote that made changing the FOV a real possibilty avoiding the need to look left to see the pitboard. I would also like to thank JSJ for this utility which does so much to improve using gpl. Finally I would like to thank my parents, my girlfriend and everyone I have ever known.........

Glad you are still around Jamnut (assuming it isn't damaging your eye sight further). Could you not get some software to read the forum to you to avoid looking at the screen so much?

Maxim

After using GPLSA/FOV you might have to be carefull using GPLShift.
I think you'll need to set the FOV where you want it with FOV, setthe GPLSA value's for teh cars, then setthe FOV back to 79.
This way, when you use GPLShift you get the FOV and you can see the mirrors. GPLShift means you can see all of the pitboard at every track

I wasn't aware of this. I got a generic game pad to be recognised as an Act Labs shifter by following the procedure given on this page: http://www.massey.ac.nz/~jcmarsha/W...mpatibility.htm

I'm building a H-Pattern shifter, using the game-pad to emulate the Act Labs shifter.

Excuse my English.........I am Danish:

Hello GPL Fans

GPLshift+ supports homebuild Shifter if it ack as a
ACT LABS USB/RS Shifter, e.g:

a RS shifter compatible Shifter connected as gamecontroller ID #1: (to gameport, USB, or serial port, if OS supports it)

[ ACT LABS Shifter ]
Shifter_Version = 1.RSW

Shifting_Behaviour = 1

Your Shifters Buttons/POV...............GPL gear

5........................................................1
6.........................................................2
0.........................................................3
1.........................................................4
POV Up..............................................5
POV Left ............................................6
POV Down..........................................7
POV Right...........................................R

Or ack as a GPL USB Shifter, connected as gamecontroller ID #2:

Shifter_Version = 2.USB

0.........................................................1
1..........................................................2
2..........................................................3
etc
7..........................................................not uset in this mode
8..........................................................R

Shifting_Behaviour = 8:

1..........................................................R
2..........................................................1
3..........................................................2
4..........................................................3
5..........................................................4
6..........................................................5
7..........................................................6 (BRM Car)

Remember GPL counts buttons from 0 (1st)
and GPLshift+ stick to that format

NB: And the [ Clutch Device ] function works
