[ovl] [rl] Texas Motor Speedway 2.0

Here's another one that's taken me entirely too long--Texas Motor Speeday rebuild! A wicked fast 1.5 mile quadoval, you can expect to keep your foot in the throttle a lot here. However, the banking transitions are tricky and you can screw up your lap if you enter or exit the corners incorrectly. The AI aren't perfect, but they're tolerable. Unfortunately, I could not get them any better than this despite a lot of time and effort. Attached is the track as well as a large group of screenshots, as is my tradition. Enjoy!

EDIT - File updated March 30 2004 = Improved pit AI line. Please redownload and delete previous version.

Its a nice track, but i think the grass at the S/F line is a bit too narrow, which makes the doglegs not that noticeable when driving round them, and i also dont think the turns are the right shape, but i could be wrong. Its looks really good though, but im not keeping it, as i prefer my version (which i wont release here now, but on my website) Really Good Work Though !

Design choice, actually. I plan on eventually doing Atlanta Motor Speedway as well, and I wanted to differentiate between the two tracks. Atlanta's a bit faster, so the corners will be a little more sweeping than Texas's, along with a little bit easier banking transition, but a tighter dogleg and shorter straights.

I don't think it is really that much of an improvement on the first one.

Great work, also gives me a bench mark for an IRL car - If they can't take it flat out side by side then there ain't enough downforce

There is an obvious improvement, not so huge, but its there. Just look at the walls, the banking, the infield, the outfield. Not much change but its certainly alot better!

Scenery was overhauled quite significantly (it looks better now), and the banking was totally redone from scratch to be much better than before. The AI line was also improved.

I noticed that the AI crashes in the wall in T2 after exiting the pits (Pongo's NASCAR, around 100%). Could you improve that?

I'll take a look at it--never encountered this problem really. Maybe I changed something by accident in one of the very last saves.

Edit - Yep, I had an outdated pit AI line in there. Changed it, problem is solved I do believe.

No wonder you are the reigning oval king, Dan. Fantastic work here, even for a remake.

hmm haven't commented this one, yet! great improvement compared to v1, no doubt. i like to race in lower angles (viewpoint-wise) though, so i would have chosen a lower view angle, i guess that might show off the banking pretty well.
a bit strange to me is turn one, i can't seem to find out how far i should cut inside, there is so much space between the inner white line and the inner walls.
the bottomline: that's not a track to freak out for, you've made better ovals for sure. but it's a nice one anyway.

There's a lot of space so there's room for the pit exit to be cleaner and less disruptive to racing.
Also, I have never really liked Texas Motor Speedway that much (I hate 1.5 mile quadovals other than Charlotte, and the old Atlanta was better) but I felt like it was a track that needed to be made.

In Generally I find quadovals the 2nd best type to race after big superspeedways such as Talladega, but in reality I have to agree they dont produce that close racing. Ive almost got my Texas update ready for release, but its going to be released in my forthcoming "Cookie Cutter" Trackpack!

Oh, give me a short oval any day of the week! I think you will all enjoy my upcoming Bristol update...

Looking forward to the Cookie Cutter trackpack. Just don't do Kentucky--that's my track if there's ever been one!

Alright, buddy. How about this? Why don't the flat bridges work correctly? Why is my pit crew runnning across and off the map?

J/K, I like the updated version and it will find its place in my gigantic "Ovals" folder. Why not give Martinsville a shot after getting Bristol so spot-on? Pleeeeease? Richmond? Anything short really would be a treat

I find Bristol quite easy to win at, so im guessing hes going to make the high line on the banking harder to take, forcing you to take the low line.

I wont do Kentucky anyway, as there are too many dashed lines!

Canadiens - I have a basic Richmond drawn up, but it wont be out for a while, and i also plan to remake martinsiville!
