Nkpro Soundpack

New engine sfx for all cars. Hope you like it. Spent a lot of time working on this. Enjoy!

http://files.filefront.com/Gills+NkP.../fileinfo.html

Tell me if you are having any problems with it. I have tested them all offline and online and they all seem to work well.

http://files.filefront.com/NkProSkid.../fileinfo.html - New skid sound.

Nice one Gills4life, downloading now.
Thank You!

What do you think of the tyre squeal and skidding noises in 1.03? Any thoughts to do a mod-sound pack for those?

Finnro spotted that some files in the Target folder were stereo and were meant to be mono, so that has now been fixed and the link has been updated.

I don't think the skid sounds are that bad myself. A lot of people seem to dislike them though.

Hi Gillls,
nice work! engine sound on the F1800 doesn't work fine on my computer. at high rpm the sound is really weird. Seems to be inside the water!

All the other cars are really cool.

On the Target when I see all the rpm lights on I don't feel I've to change gear listening to the sound. My last RPM light is set at 6300 (default), but listening to the sound I would change around 7500. I don't really know what should be the right RPM to change on the Target, by the way, so take it only as a note!

Just a little note: in nK installation names of the cars are Formula1600 and not F1600 (same for 1800 an 2000) as in the rar file.

Cheers
Andrea

Ok thanks. If I spent loads of time doing it then I could probably make something very impressive, even though it is quite hard to with the sound engine. It is very difficult not to make the car sound weird at high rev because the wav is looping over and over. I just wanted to release something quickly that would improve on the originals and show what could be done.

wildsurfer - I have updated the soundpack once again. I have been talking to friends while playing and asking what could make it better and there have been quite a few things especially with the Target so that has been changed a lot. The 1800 is also different at higher revs now! Give it another go, I have updated the link.

Nice work Gills Just gave the FTarget a go, haven't tried any other sounds yet, but thats just great.

Only thing I've noticed is no gear change 'click'.

I think the F2000 and FTarget sound like big GT cars - not small 2.0L single seaters. There is too much transmission whine, and the engine sound is too 'big'.

I think Methyl Ethyl used this video to create on of his sounds:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo6IRmf6Byg

I don't think his sound pack will work with 103, as 103 now has more sounds.

It's there, but almost completely covered by the engine sound.

A problem I noticed with that soundset (FTarget), is that for some reason there's no doppler effect in replays nor any volume variation depending on the distance.

Download the latest version, because in the first version was an error in the F Target sound files.

I don't like them either. Can't really put in to words why right now. Will try to do that and report back.

Didn't tested these yet, tried your first pack for the f1600, i like the way it sounds, they are more throaty but i find defaults suit me better.

About skid sounds. As I understood from glancig through netkar folder structure, nK only uses one sound file for tires?
Thats not enough
Blend of two files would be much better - one "tire_scrub" and "tire_skid" sound. Because when going through corner tires don't produce too loud skid sound, they rather produce scrubbing-like sound.

I had a try but feel no good.
I change the some parameter in engine.nke. The sound seem nice than before.

The tire-skid sound is just AWFUL.
It sounds like melancholic ghosts, like cold wind ululating in the window, like wolfs yowling in a dark bloody night. Everything except tires skidding.
Please, if you can remake them, do it. Save us, save the game, cause those sounds (tire skid) is just depressing.

(a little poetic, but true )

ohh how i ed at that

Look in the sfx folder. There are two alternative skid files. Just rename them to Skid.wav to try them out. (rename the original to skid.wav.ori or whatever)

I'm using the skidPro.wav (i think that's what it was called) and actually turn the skid slider up now Still not perfect but better than the original

"ululating"!!!!!

I'm English and that's a new one on me - appararently it means howling/wailing.

It just goes to prove you learn something new every day...

Cheers
