Grinning Watkins Glen (4 layouts)

I'll let the pictures do the talking. Current short and long courses included, as well as the pre-chicane layout from circa 1990. Zip attached, gobs of pics upcoming.

VERY nice. But I've noticed several fixable errors in it that I know of from my time @ Watkins in September! So urr, I'll list them, see if I can find any more and email ya

But I absolutely love Watkins. One of my favourite tracks!

Great track, I loved the old version by.. Erm whoever made it this is better but, I feel the hight map into turn one isn't extreme enough. Thats my one nit pick with the track.

Thumbs Up Awesome...

unbelievable!! i am AMAZED!!
the hmap is so real and smooth! the land map is also smooth and looks gorgeous and the objects are placed very well - excellent work, bud! love that track!!!

keep it up, this is the kind of tracks we need.

p.s.: i just checked theglen.com, it's indeed very good. now if every track's page were that good and had a map for elevation changes.

p.p.s.: IF you change anything on that track (referring to what James said) - take care that the track only gets improved LOL just wanna make sure you don't mess that beauty up! and take your time.

EDIT: just had an exciting race with Pongo's NASCARs on the new (not 1990 version) and short NASCAR track against 5 AIs with a values around 100. LOL i was really bad! finished only 3rd - and had luck! some AIs didn't get into the pit as some other guys took the inner line. i haven't had such an exciting race for months!! Dan, this track is really a masterpiece. :mad2:

EDIT#2: oh and i like the idea with the red dots to mark which way to go. much better than haybales or crap.

Man, I just drew up my track layout today.. I was going to release cause that was one track I really wanted.

The HMap looks nice,, the only thing I do not like is the way "the boot" is drawn. It just doesnt look right to me...

The boot was HEAVILY sacrificed in detail--I have NEVER seen any footage or pictures from the Boot and have absolutely no idea what it looks like in person. It is too short--but that was a compromise to make the rest of the track drive well. The Boot still is a fun section to run though.

The hmap should be VERY realistic--I did the actual scale for the real track's elevation changes, then made it slightly exaggerated to fit the GeneRally world better.

BTW everyone, I AM aware that I didn't include the bridge off the final corner--I couldn't come anywhere close to making it fit.

AllRight!
One of my favorite tracks.
And a good job on it too

The version I am familiar with is from Nascar1. Converted to ICR2 and then to GPL. And now in GR too

That version has the S/F line after the "90" (after the pits)
I guess that was changed years ago.

Yeah, the starts in GPL at Watkins Glen certainly are interesting with the first turns being the Esses.
