COCKPIT Finished with 7" LCD ButtonPanel

OK, finally I decided to call my cockpit Finished and not WIP any more ... anyway as you all now it is always WIP... The great advance was to develop from scratch and make a fully working 7" LCD for Button Box

Here the Story... from the beggining...

OK Guys let me tell you:

- The LCD screen is a generic 7" LCD Touch Screen used for in car DVD PlayBack. It has VGA input so I use it as a Second Monitor and also have dual View active

- The program I used is Touch Buddy, which is very popular in the SimFlight community, I used Photoshop to design the Graphs (Buttons) and all of the graphs are animated.

- You can get TouchBuddy here http://www.touch-buddy.com/ but right now the site is momentary down

- IT WORKS ALL THE TIME WITH EVERY GAME/MOD AS IT JUST EMULATE MOUSE MOVEMENTS, CLICKS AND KEY STROKES, ALSO IT KEEPS YOU IN GAME WITHOUT DOING AND ALT TAB

It is a very flexible tool as it allow you to program Touch, Toggle, Momentary, etc.. and any combination of different screen to make it work as I show in the video... sorry for the quality of the Video. In the page there are some simple examples you can download and even try them with a second monitor using the mouse... or if you have a touch screen using it too...

See some examples of the art work I did...

Hi,

Could you share your Touchbuddy profile/GUI for GTR with the us?

The profiles/GUI's downloadeble from the touchbuddy site are verry ugly.
But yours is very well made.

Sure man! It took me about 90 Hours to do it.... on this basis you can create a new one very Quickly... I will share my own profile "SIMRACING" wich is just a Beta and it is made for rFactor specific... From here do What you want. I can't provide support as I'm not the owner, also it is a free tool, but I would help anyone to improbe and/or creat new designs.

You need to download TouchBuddy and the Toolkit... I can't upload it because of the size...

DOWNLOAD ON PAGE 3... SIMARCING.RAR

That is great. But is it really just a general lcd screen? I thought you might need a special touch screen to use it?

It is a Touch Screen, nothing special... You can use an LCD but then you'll need the mouse to do the key strokes on it...

I have updated the TouchBuddy profile in the ZIP up there... It is finished and it includes the CHAT keyboard. Also inside the ZIP is the TBC so just Unzip it to the Profiles folder of TB and give it a try.

Here you have a Screen Shoot of the CHAT keyboard Layout.

Hi pgrande,
I downloaded touch Buddy and installed today and added your TBC file and all works fine with rFactor.
Now i have a problem - i am using a 2nd monitor in Dual view mode with a nvidea 8800 GT and using the mouse to click on the buttons on touch buddy.
When i do this rfactor on my main monitor minimizes, any idea how to fix this ??

Thanks in advance
Daz

Wow, that's actually pretty ingenious! I've been searcing for a button box to add to my cockpit, but this may be a decent alternative. How difficult would this be to incorporate? Is there maybe a step-by-step to set this up? I think this would work out pretty well.

Also, do you have the ability to possibly have different profiles/layouts for different series/cars? Like one for Stock Cars, one for Single Seaters, etc?
