2003 Chrysler Town and Country v0.1

Ok after who knows how long of working on it I'm releasing in its as is state, somethings work near perfect other parts of it need a little bit of help, a countless number of hands have been involved in this van, and it being a Chrysler was pretty resilient to changes at time. But alas I have conquered it, this van is available with 2 engines choices, the 3.3l V6 or the 3.8l V6, you can even choose between fwd or awd, plenty of exterior color choices, 2 interior color choices, it has whats called quad command seating, 2 captains chair + a 50/50 split bench in the back. Performance wise this is as close as I could get it to the real thing. It does have 3d head lights and tail lights and lights to go with them.
Anyways, credits goto all of those that helped me on this thing. Heres some pictures and somewhere below that is the download link (filefront) Enjoy!

dunno how you can release a car with the needles sticking through the dashboard as someone is bound to notice that. It also lacks a lot in the way of texturing, but is nevertheless a good release...

Harey, we've been here before...I've got deja-vous

One thing this is crying out for is some shading on the body and interior, would improve it 200%

I remember how this looked 2 1/2 years ago, even then it was a lot prettier than my first attempt at the Scorp

Wil try later when I'm at home

Like the texture comments above, the model is great, but the textures don't show depth and curves. The .ini is really good. But I've noticed this with many of your models........the don't have a bottom. And the tapered shape of this car makes it noticible under hard braking.

I drove that car in all engine versions and my choose is 3,8L.

Outside car look good (without fireworks). Inside interfere gauges-shade (cover part of gauges). The best element outside is rims.

Engines (3,3 and 3,8) are typical american drive unit but 4 gradual automatic gearbox in my opinion have not enough gears (I know, that in real Chrysler have that gearbox but to me it's not enough). Chrysler in FWD is understeering but not so AWD version. In AWD version turning is hard job.

My mark: 4/6

Well, a 4 speed is the standard Chrysler Auto. Be glad you didn't get the 3-speed auto.

Now, some critique:

1. Sometimes the 3.8l Version shifts in the 4th gear and behaves like the clutch slips (car acceleration slowly and rpm stay at 4k) - needs to be fixed, I doubt that would happen (or does it?)

Checked, the clutch slips, just add about ~40nm to every car.ini clutch and the problem is gone

2. Suspension sees a little bit "short" in restlen, maybe it's just an illusion thought

3. Sounds could be, err better

4. Car makes backflips when lifting of the ground (or tries to backflip)? Check weight distribution or aerodynamic settings for this.

ok first of all about the textures I meant to get proper textures for the body, but somewhere between that time and now I lost my mind, and I honestly can't make that great of textures. This van has probably been a good reason for pulling hair, at one time the needles were right, and I had the gear selection and odometer on the inside, and I've never made my dash light up, because knowing me instead of lighting it up just enough to see at night, i'd light it up like a battlefield. I wouldn't be amazed if Reggid came around here with reverse lights for the van, though the original ones he made for it were not adequate for the van and the van kinda shrunk...

These vans were only available with a 4 speed automatic transaxle, the 6 speed came out like late last year in the new model introduction, and the 3-speed auto was available on previous generation Caravan/Voyager vans but only with the 3.0l engine(which was gone by the later half of that generation and replaced with the 2.4l)

@Engine of Darkness - 1. that would be the autoclutch, and the clutch itself, I guess you didn't like that but thats ok, the clutch I designed to slip to about 2-3k rpm, maybe it was more than that, but it was mainly for taking off, because the real minivan's do something like that when you give it the full beans, which also normally would result in tire spinnage.
2. Hm I don't think its that low, but what your seeing might be more on the awd model I think than the fwd's.
3. Yeah I can never make good sounds, this one I think sounds more like someone passing gas then a v6 lol.
4. I really don't understand what you mean, I took this thing through a series of tests before I released it and it was fine, but i guess the other question is, why where you doing jumps in a minivan? I designed to be good on the road, not air lol

1: No I don't like faked Features, the Clutch just slips and doesn't really adjust itself, I doubt a real automatic car just lets the clutch slip and doesn't adjust it. If at all, this makes it feel less realistic, atleast if you try to fake it in racer

2. Dunno, I'll look again

3. Maybe someone comes along and owns that car, he can do(record) sounds in that case

4. If it does do backflips while jumping, even thought it shouldn't, you can conclude that it affects driving big time. Simple math, so to speak .

Harey, not sure what went wrong mate but there's a few bugs in there I don't remember from before

About the sounds, at low revs it's like a bumblebee on LSD having a bad trip . We could do with a decent generic V6 soundset though, the best sounds I've heard in Racer at the moment are all American V8 ones.

I got the autoclutch thing to work ok on a couple of mine but you need quite a lot of inertia to damp it, if you're doing an auto you need more inertia to stop the engine spinning up so fast anyhow because of the weight of the torque converter...autos don't spool up in neutral like manuals with lightweight flywheels do. Not to go OT but if you've got enough torque, I think 4 gears is enough in an automatic road car, most of them are just 3 speeds with an overdrive bolted on anyhow...more gears make it feel more lively but don't always make it a lot faster if the power band is there in the first place. If you're on the track with a car with a narrow power band then you need more gears, 3 or 4 is fine for me. I've got the same problem as Darkness, on full bore it just latches at 4500rpm and dumps me into 4th gear at 25mph with no power, setting Racer to cut throttle on upshift helps this though.

Wing mirrors are missing from the inside view, cull none on the shader would probably fix at least part of that. And I don't know what happened with the gaues either, maybe you moved the model slightly in Zmod?

By the way, no need to credit me . I did the pacejka? I don't even remember, must have been a long time ago. You need better pacejka for it, Mr Whippy does it far better than I can, I knew barely anything about inis back then

About it pitching up while airbourne, you probably need to re-do the aero bit in the ini, I had this a while back with one of mine, would backflip if you got airbourne fast enough. Just having 1 wing in the centre doing some bodylift should sort it.

It's ok but you can do better, don't take that the wrong way...hope the crits help a bit

Actually, aside from some looping issues, the sounds are great. It sounds just like the 3.8L in my Parents' Plymouth Grand Voyager.

You can't change the model at all!? Those are circular, and the ones on the Town&Country are funny shaped.

They badged one of these as a Plymouth?

No offence to Harey but if your parents' one sounds like this then I hope they know a good mechanic

well its hard for me to make my own exactly and sometimes changing the shape can be a little hard. i've this before and it didn't always go successful. The only thing i'm good at is getting them to work. I''ve done some shape modifying before but its hard to do. i'm not expert at shapes or anything. i'm sorry.

@ tiberuis - yes they did, but just the first (1983-1990), second (1991 - 1995) and third (1996 - 2000) generations. not the fourth (2001-2007) and fifth (2008 - present).

Yes.

Aside from the Wheels, that's almost exactly what my parents' looks like. Same color, too.

Granted, the model Harey has done is a newer Generation, but Powertrain options were essentially the same as the Generation of my parents' Grand Voyager.

this generation (4th gens) were never badged as Plymouth's they were badged as Chrysler's, or Dodges, Plymouth was dumped late in the 3rd generation, I think it was either 99 or 00.

Actually my parent's van sounds nothing like that, if you read my previous post I actually said it sounded more like someone passing gas then a v6. if someone could put like a lot better sounds on this van it would be so much better lol

@Peugeot_206 - Essentially they were the same, unless your van was from 96-97, in which your choices were not the 2.4l, 3.3l, or 3.8l, it was the 3.0l, 3.3l or the 3.8l, and about every half gen they got a little more powerful.
