Just a followup Paul, the above did the trick. Thanks again for your reply and such a wonderful program. My helmet's off to you.

Hi, after so many problems with the incompatible exe thing, I did finally opt for a complete reinstall in order to keep track of each & every patching of the original exe.

I ended up with 4 versions:
1) Clean (Spanish) 1.2.0.2 exe.
2) After adding teamfix patch (with Lo67seasonFix).
3) After adding Carsound patch.
4) After installing Mod65 and the associated GEM+ 2.2.1.

Of these, only #1 turned out to be usable with GEM+ 2.4.64 and Mod69 part2. In fact, I think the Lo67seasonFix is the guilty one, since it actually changed the size of the exe file, making all later versions unusable.

Must admit, though, I hadn't realized that teamfix, carsound patch, etc. aren't really necessary anymore if you launch GPL from GEM+ 2.4.64: if you do, it does all the work for you!!

Maybe that has been already commented here (I don't know), but if I had known before, I certainly wouldn't have been that reluctant to go back to my unpatched exe.

Thanks to all involved in this Mod, best regards.

You guys are heroic.

It's said so many different ways here, but I'd simply like to contribute that you improve the quality of my life. Sounds dramatic? Only if you're embarrassed about how much you enjoy sim racing, in particular GPL sim racing, and directly to the point,
THIS "SERIES" OF MODS AND UTILS that you fellows produce.

Bless You and Thank You,

Tanglefoot

I Paul,

First of all, thanks for your great work!

Just two things:
- Is it possible (in a futur release) to add an option like "never update the exe" ?
Because i edit my setup and replay folders and some other things who's been (of course) lost after a rebuilding.

- Season manager seems to be bugged for me. When I create a new ini file and add a track from the left list, here is what I obtain (see file).
Maybe I'm using it in a wrong way ?

Thanks again, and again, and again, and...

This is essential for running the 1969mod Part2 and for future mods in development.

You can d/l Gem+ 2.4.64 here
http://1969gpl.speedgeezers.com/files/gem/GPLS_0422.exe

This has been extensively tested by the 69mod team but Paul will be on hand to help you with any installation/operation problems you may have.

NOTE ! after installation remember to set the path to gpl, also the path to Igor and Vroc ( incase you dont get a Vroc button )

NOTE ! Gem+ may require an up to date Windows Media player, If you have not updated your media player recently it may be best to do it before installation

The link has changed but the easiest way is to go to http://1969gpl.speedgeezers.com and select downloads.
There're the actual links

It's near the top of my list. In the past I've never figured out a good way to structure the option but with the way I'm doing the patching now it's a lot easier.

Yes, that's well fubar'ed isn't it?

Try making a copy of one of your existing season files and see if it works with that. I'll check it out on my development machine

Yes, same thing here with Season Manager - creating or modifying messes up the file.

I had no idea it did that! What a rather neat inadvertent feature.

I'll check out the new season file problem.

Season manager works fine here and we had no reports of problems during testing.
It must be something specific to your installs and maybe easily fixed if we find the reason.

I posted this in another thread but it may be worth checking the season ini is not marked "read only"

I will have to improve my video compression...

Actually i think i found why.

I have updated my sgem.ini and there is a big difference between the original (come with GEM+) and the updated.

I join the 2 files.

edit: All seems to work fine with the original sgem.ini but all ini sections are written in the season file, even those that are not used by GPL. But i suppose it is normal. I will test more this evening.

I'm intrigued Paul. What do you mean exactly when you say Best Laps are on the list?

I think he means patching for the best lap screen, newspapers with correct info, and maybe program covers linked to carsets.

Absolutely correct. Have a biscuit.

The problem was with the sgem.ini I shipped with GEM+. It's now been fixed and all you download a new SGEM file in the season manager it will sort the problem.

You may have to reapply any tracks you added using the old version of the file.

Hi Paul. I've been bouncing around the various GEM+ / 69Mod threads... just saw you here. I've still not got the mod to work properly. All seems just fine in GEM+ and even in the HWing and LWing carsets within GPL. The darn thing is that the wing adjustment is not in the setup drivetrain screen.

Here is the last debug file (which only started occuring last night). Previous installs using the all-in-one patch never stopped with a debug. Even with the debug halt, the created exe still works the same as the previous attempts.

Help.....

I usually wait a few days after any new release before attempting an install .... my bud pbearsailor gave me some installation tips and ....

I have no complaints GEM and the 69 mod pt 2 work beautifully

not only do you guys create amazing mods, you are there with smiling service after the sale .... it's a pleasure to watch you guys diagnose and fix an oddball install problem that is sometimes not even related to your programs

Thank You to Paul Thurston, Paul Skingley and the entire mod team

best regards and congratulations again .... Bob

Do you have GEM+ maximised? If so try it not maximised.

If still no joy mail me the complete debug.txt file.

Well, you have the classic patching problem. Over time exes seem to get patched by various utilities, GEM+ included. The new patching paradigm in GEM+ seems to be a bit more fussy that previous generations because it's doing a lot more moving around.

The solution is to restore gpl.exe to a raw, unpatched 1.2.0.2 exe and start again. Once you've done that you should be able to reapply any other patches you had before.

Paul

Thanks for the info, Paul. I had thought that I had done that in my last iteration of patching... but I will try again this evening.

It is only the original Papyrus gpl.exe (with 1.2.0.2 patch) that is of concern here, correct? It makes no difference what files are in the various other folders as long as the mod folder under gpl is pristine from the GEM+ install.

GEM+ is a superb program and I congratulate you on your tremendous effort and results. You've made GPL a wonderfully diverse sim for a huge audience through the integration of mods in an easy-to-use interface. GEM+ is easy to use and really beats hands down the method of file-swapping that us old farts seem to relish.

Keep up the fantastic work!

Greg, if you have enough hd space why not try a fresh install of gpl ( keep your original install )
this seems to have worked for a few who are still having patching problems.

Anyway, there's no point in patching again with carsound or teamfix, since the new GEM+ does it for you, doesn't it?
