Okay . I'm steaming ahead now! Number lock was my problem, so thanks for that one mate . Btw, once you know a few key commands (might be a good idea to include a quick .txt list of the key commands in the new release ) and what the basic values mean, it's easy! I've now corrected a few of my corners and added cameras in. Not perfect, but they're getting there. Once again, a few more questions have arisen though, lol, as always. When you move the offset of the fastpath, does that also move the groove with it? And also, is it possible to modify the pitlane path? I made a bodge of that one on the exit too...lol, it was late when I did my AIW. Finally...does the AI drive the fast path to the maximum speed possible or does it match the speed that I do when I recorded it?
Btw, I think I may have cracked how the activation radius works . Basically, as soon as the car enters the radius, the camera attached to it will activate. So basically, just set the radius to the width of the track where you want it to kick in no need to worry about having it the size of the entire camera area. It would also explain why some people have problems when they overlap...because you're in one radius and the game doesnt detect you crossing a new one until you leave the old one . Best Regards -Woffin |

No camera Zoom In and Zoom Out functions?
I have to put these commands manually, based on F1 Challenge CAM files, and it works well (surprise). I love the zoom in and zoom out functions because they're cool. It's so strange that they do not exist in "rF AIWCAM Editor" but their functionality is still intact. Is this a minor mistake or they're disabled on purpose?

When editing cameras there should be two fields at the bottom left called FOV...meaning Field of View. But I'm not entirely sure how they work (not got upto that stage yet ) so it's better to wait for clarification from someone who knows what they're doing and how the values work.

The Zoom In and Zoom Out functions are working like a dynamic/automatic FOV. There's should be a toggle button --in CAM menu-- to activate it. I remember that the early AIW and CAM Editor had them, unfortunately I don't remember the version number.
[edit] Ooops, sorry, my mistake! I thought you guys talking about the AIW and CAM editor from ISI! I didn't check that this thread is for guitarmen's cool editor (I used it to edit some track's AIW and CAM)! I think my question didn't fit very well in this thread [/edit] |

@Woffin:
You can always press the 'h' key to get some help on the keystrokes which are available. I have also included some visual help for placing the activation radius: Just press the "CA" button left of the activation radius fields. This shows you for each waypoint which camera is active. In most cases there is a difference between the waypoints and the fast path. The waypoints should build roughly the middle line of the the track. The fast path is an offset from this "middle line" - it could be left of the middle line (negative values) and right (positive values) - first field of WP_Path. So you can fix some glitches in the fast path if you change this offset. values. The same with the pitlane: in most cases the waypoints and the fastpath is the same (Offset value = 0), but you can change the offset in order to do a smooth line into fastpath of the track. The waypoints should not be changed(moved) in gerneral. If you change the fast path the goove changes with it. I hope this solves all of your questions - if not ... ask again. |

Yep, that solves all of the problems indeed and it's coming along nicely now. I've found out a few of what the "flags" stand for aswell. If you put "1" in the left box then your camera will auto zoom to match the car. If you put "4" in it, then it enables shaking as far as I can see. Also, with some help from duff, I've got my camera movement paths working...but for some reason it only works if there are 4 waypoints and even then it only moves between the 2nd and 3rd ones.
Does anybody else know what any of the other numbers could mean for the flags? One particular problem I'm having is when my camera moves, the sound stays still...is there any way of getting the sound to move with the camera? Thanks for the help guitarmaen once you get the hang of this tool, it's very useful! |

New Version 3.24
Changes:
- 3 new Variables editable: WorstAdjust, MidAdjust and BestAdjust - some improvements when editing Pitpositions, Garagepositions or Gridpositions - more compatible to GTR2 when editing AUXpositions (Safetycar) - some graphical changes - 2 or 3 smaller bugfixes Not very spectacular changes this time, but to show you I'm still working on it. This is a great tool. I used an old version months ago when I did the cameras for Prairie City. I mainly use the tool to edit my cameras but I am having a problem getting it setup so I can see all the fields relating to the cameras. I have tried to manually set the resolution in the config file. Anything I have tried greater than 1024x768 yeilds a "XuiWindow() : WindowResized: (Disater)" message in the Console window and I can never get it so I can see all the fields relating to the cameras. And 1024x768 isn't enough realestate to see all the fields either.
I run 1440 x 900 desktop resolution and have tried a few setting in the config close to this and even went to 1600x1200 but I get the "XuiWindow() : WindowResized: (Disater)" line in the Console window. Maximizing the window doesn't seem to change much either. Best I can get is to see the red bar on the left titled "Movement Path" and I can only see that much if I hide my Windows taskbar. I have tried version 3.16, 3.21 and 3.24 and cant get it so I see all the fields. Any ideas? Thanks, Gary vorra44 |

That's very strange, but another guy tells me about similar problems - unfortunately I couldn't help him until now. But I promise to have a look on this problem again. If I can't find a solution I will rearrange the GUI so that it fits into a 1024x768 resolution at least.

Thanks guitarmaen. I played around a little more and ended up getting version 3.16 to work if I hide my taskbar. I can now get to the movement path fields for a camera.
1400x900 is my max resolution I can run at with my monitor. For now I'm good, I can do what I need using the 3.16 version. Thanks for the quick responses. Gary |

I'm waiting for a 20" or a 22" inch monitor, but now, i've an old 17"crt. (1152x864) and, you know, the gui goes over the screen.
I find this tool very useful man, expecially for cam editing (ahm..... is possible to move the cam's activators with mouse, instead inserting values by hand? just asking :P) Thanks a lot for the tool. elwood |

@elwood
No, it's not possible with the mouse, but you can move them with the ALT/ALTGR Keypad Arrow keys (press "h" to see all commands) About the gui...just wait a little, the next version is on its way... just a little more testing, because I changed a lot. |

Sorry, for any reason the attachment of the last version (v3.24) is not in the last new version post.
The newest version can always be derived in this forum (look at the end of this thread). Unfortunately I cannot repost it now, because my .zip limit is now at max of 97 kb. The last downloadable version is V3.21, you can find it in post #134 (page 6). Maybe the moderator can increase my max attachment value for zips to 700kb at least, because the next version will be released in a couple of days and I would be pleased to release it here in this forum. |

Now this may be a stupid question...but how do you highlight a camera?
I have loaded and AIW file and pressed C and can see all the cameras an FOV and zooms etc. But cannot activate a camera to edit. Cheers Brett

The active (highlighted) camera is shown as a yellow cross with a yellow activation circle.
You can select another camera by left clicking on another cross or by cycling through the cameras with the 'x' and 'c' keys. To repeat it once again: You can every time hit the 'h' (for help) key to obtain a little new window with all possible commands suitable for the edit mode you are in. |

I only know about flags1:
flags1 = 1: activate auto zoom to car flags1 = 2: activate camera movement (you need a cam movement path for this camera to see the effect) flags1 = 4: enable camera shaking ( in general used with static cameras) |
