Grand Am 2005 For F1C

SSM will be making a Grand Am 2005 mod for F1C. however, the final-end product may NOT be for F1C. We will have to evaluate all of our options. But, as it stands right now, the mod is for F1C.

One definate thing is that we will be releasing a "Demo" of the Grand Am 2005 mod soon. it will feature 2 cars (Crawford DP04, and a Porsche 911 Cup car). It may also include a texture update to Daytona. More news on that soon.

Barber Motorsports Park

Just wondering if there are any plans to make Barber Motor Sports Park in Birmingham Ala.
Its one of the circuits in 2004 season.
Would love to run there.

Just thought this would belong here but I just wanted to mention a track we will be releasing sometime soon "I hope", Its a track that was run in grand-am this past year and it isn't barber but its still good. I am thinking of doing a simultaneous release of it for F1C and for GTR, hopefully you guys will like it and it should fit right in with the grand-am demo.

cyruscloud, please PM me and let me know what track, since we have almost started development on every single grand am track. If you tell me, the only people that will find out will be Bill and I. I promise. I just want to make sure we dont do the track you are doing then.

Thumbs Up

WOW!! I am glad to hear that you are doing a Mod for F1C of the Grand Am series. I am really looking forward to it especially since it is the only major sports car series that comes to the Phoenix area. Please keep us posted as to how the mod is coming along ... I can't wait to see this one!!!

OK now I have a question that I forgot to ask before. Will the mod be covering only the Rolex Sports Car Series or will it also include the Grand American Series as well as a seperate season? Just one of those curious questions. Either way I am really looking forward to this one. I would really like to race at my home track, PIR!!!!

Sounds like a great program. I can't wait to get it. However, Cup cars would be icing on the cake.

Do you plan on modelling the 2005 Rolex cars? I am particularly interested in the RX8 that ran in GT last week.

Very likely since the RX-8 is afterall a GT car, that is unless something dramatic happens...

Tracks

Will you guys be working on tracks as well? In the EA mods nobody seems to care about the tracks except for the F1 tracks. We get a new mod out about every 3 weeks and almost always w/ incompleted tracks for that particular series. There are a host of tracks in NR2003 and someone mentioned that it is possible to convert them to EA's mods not easy though I guess. For Grand Am we're missing California road course, Homestead road course, Mont Tremblant, and Barber. I know Tremblant exists in NR2003.

we will be creating/retexturing all the correct tracks for the 2005 GARRA season so you will get a "mod" and not a "carset"

Beautiful! Glad to here it. I get a little frustrated when we're missing so many tracks and yet all these fictional mods keep popping up left and right.

Thats awsome. This will be a great mod. I think if this series had better T.V. coverage it would be awsome.

Hey RX-8 guy, I think that it is a grand am cup car they must have just listed it incorrectly on the sheet. You need about 400hp minimum to be competitive in grand am gt don't see how they'd get that car there w/ the current rules, last year I think it ran against the bmw's in grand am cup, remember them battling the Turner cars, not sure on this just a hunch

There was a GT Class RX-8 for sure (and only one.)

It finished way back in the field. It may have been running a 3-rotor engine, but i'm not absolutely sure yet.

The RX8 in the GT class didn't do well and barely got any TV time but it looks good and I'd love to have it as part of the simulation.

Now with a widebody kit the RX-8 starts to look nice.

Next stop . . . . . . Turbo

Trust me if you want any reliabilty out of the car don't turbocharge it. I have a 94 Twin turbo car that I track a lot. The rotarys are just so finiky(sp) under boost. One sec of lean condition can crack or break an apex seal and kaboowy there is another motor. I am well tuned with a wideband and a stand alone computer that I use a laptop with and it is tough. If you want more power just add rotors. That is what they did to the Lemans car, it was a 4 rotor 26B motor. It turned like 14K rpm too.

Hey SpeedracerRX7 - since you track your car a lot, why don't you join the NASA-SE track days at Road Atlanta on March 19&20. We have a lot of RX8s and a few RX7s going. The rx8club(dot)com forum has details in the SE section...
