AI driver skill override setting! Report Post | IP: Logged | Post #2

i had another idea:
how about an override feature for the AI drivers' skills? i could imagine a slider with 100% as standard setting, all AI drivers would use the skill they are set to. if you set it to 80% for example, all AI drivers would get their skills lowered accordingly. this would be of advantage when you want to race with a friend who isn't such a good GR driver as you - this way you wouldn't need to change all the skills of each AI driver and mess up your own settings. furthermore you could use this feature on tracks which are extremely hard to race due to a good AI line and a wicked hmap for instance. you would have a better control over the AI skills after all.

GR Rank compatibility with GR.
That means that you make your rank and the comp. automaticly calculates witch is the best AI driver skill for you.

I know that this could be hard but a good idea to keep going better.

Edit: Ohh and by the way I will take another short (?) brake with GR. Another game's calling me to be a good or bad god, from tomorrow.

Being able to save midway through a season of races if you need to leave the game for whatever reason. (especially useful if you have long endurance races over a long season, 10+ races, and you don't want to play for days on end).

Ability to model motorcycle racing correctly, including leaning into turns, riders falling off, etc.

Allow car modellers to use more polygons to create more detailed cars.

If larger field sizes are added, perhaps a class based scoring system option for people that want to race with a mixed field of vehicles.

Allow a third colour for the car schemes (possibly seperate driver helmet and second colour?).

Other than that I want to put further emphasis on larger grid sizes, team scoring, improved track editor and hmap, scrolling for larger levels (I can't stand the huge tracks that make your cars look like a tiny dot, even though the track itself is well done), improved damage/spin physics and even out the damage so that the cpu takes as much damage as player (I can't tell you how many times I've been taken out of a race by a AI with terminal damage while they suffer hardly any). AND ONLINE PLAY!!!

Also, I like the turn-based racing idea. It would be great for big rally stages and or hill-climb competitions (especially if online play is added).

Oops, forgot about the save feature for a second, I just haven't used it in such a long time

As for the rest, the whole second half of my post was just emphasising the elements of the list that I strongly agreed with, so yes I know most of them were already on the list. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on the subject.

I just need to make a point, as my last suggestion wasn't worded properly in the .txt file...

"a wallbouncing flag/feature that damages car if driver wallbounces"

This is NOT what I suggested. I didn't suggest that the car gets damaged if a driver tries to wallbounce - that's just plain silly if somebody's got damage at 0%. My suggestion was adding a "flag", or a little data into the hotlap data that marks whether a driver wallbounced or not. IF the driver, during his fastest lap, takes a hit that would register damage under 100% conditions (regardless of what damage is set to in options), then the hotlap data will record a wallbounce. The ideal use of this would be for the hotlap script to read this wallbounce data/flag, and reject the time if a wallbounce was recorded.

Just thought I'd clarify that. This would be immensely useful for hotlap compos, and we wouldn't ever have to worry about G limits again.

"da"? surely you mean "the".... speak english boy!

just thought of a little feature that might work in a "rally mode" - services, perhaps an option to select the amount of stages before the cars are repaired and get new tyres. obviously cars would have to start each stage with full fuel (as they might not make it to the end of a stage) but it would place more emphasis on driving between the lines and would also make it a little more realistic

Didn't see this in the list. Apologies if it's there.

Perhaps an option to view GR's frames per seconds and perhaps set a maximum limit for GR's framerate would be nice. I swear the framerate's been flucuating quite oddly ever since I switched to XP...it feels like it's moving between 50 fps and 70 fps over a certain interval, which can be a bit distracting during a race.

Anyways, I think that'd be a big help, unless I'm overlooking something that's already in place.

I DID READ. That's why I said "didn't see this in the list"...sometimes I tend to miss little items while reading through lists and books. I'm not perfect by any means, so I do tend to worry about mentioning an item that I just accidentally passed over.

Just trying to be polite in case I goofed up. Sorry about that.

it would be really neat if we were able to select and download tracks directly from generally track database within the game. Of course it should first check for an active internet connection.

Probably been mentioned before, but how about online play? That would seriously addict me to the game.

Also, how about support for up to, lets say, 16 cars? Although, tracks would have to have a competitor limit so all those would have to be specially built.

PNG would be better. But I don't know how compatable it is with other programs. BMP is the most compatable, and the least likely to give anyone trouble.

I'd like to see the ability to create custom campaigns (or whatever you'd call them in racing terms). Basically that means racing tracks in order, but its a little more than just selecting the tracks you want to race. A campaign requires that you finish the previous race before you're allowed to play the next one. If campaign files were supported (basically they'd be loaded like track files in the game), they could contain data such as pre-defined information for fuel consumption, tire wearing and damage, as well as how many points you get for each rank once the race is over. Also, how many points total you need to get to the next race, which cars are allowed in the race (possibly storing car files in the campaign file itself), etc...

And another far-out idea, include custom car parts. A car part is a little file that can be applied to any car once the game is running. Basically when a part is installed, it modifies data in the car file accordingly. So you could have a part called a "Weight" that adds 50 to the mass of the car during the race, or an "Accelerator" that increases your horse power by 10, etc... Basically parts would be an easy way to customize cars during the game instead of opening the car editor, creating a few new instances of the car you're racing, and modifying them accordingly. If these were added, car saves would be nice too, so you can save a car equipped with whatever parts you gave it.

And if both the campaigns and the parts were added, then maybe some way of purchasing parts with points during a campaign could be added too.

Just to make things more interesting.

And whats wrong with JPEG? Used everywhere, why change?

Advertising on the cars/barriers, where can select a banner per car/barrier.
