ok one of the download servers just mysteriously got some speed... will give the car a try. I hope one can assume this may be a preview of the type of physics to expect in the endurance mod?

One hell of a great car guys... I was gonna go and paint a skin for it right away (yes.. it is possible and always has been, to paint skins without templates) but as the gmt's are locked, I can't open the car model anywhere to check my skin.
I fully support your decision to lock the 3D files and discourage people stealing the mod, but could you give us some sort of X Viewer file or something please? I hate working "blind" and having to start up rFactor just to check if a single line is situated right on a car and I'm sure I am not the only one.
Not asking for a big thing, just an X file or some sort of viewer thingy

it looks really great.

But i think it has a nice tendency to snap oversteer.
The setup has tons of front bar, and pretty much rear wing, and it's still like that.
hmmm.

Yeah it snap spun alot for me as well, especially when going over crests. Didnt tweak the setup much, maybe fiddling with the dampers would cure some of it

just add some rear bar to equilibrate, the default setup is voluntary under steer, if you force at the out of the turn, the rear slide.
If you add the bar at rear, you'll see the behavior is neutral. You have many parameters to improve this (mass repartition, less rear wing ...)

For information, you can consider you need about 1 hour to find the setup adjustments needed on a specific track before thinking to attack the chronometer and the limits of the car

Here is a setup for Le Mans 2004 track! It feels pretty good, and only the slow corners, there is some oversteer but it feels really good! In the slow corners, brake early and take it easy, then its easy enough to drive around... I drive without any aids, and it doesnt snap oversteer!

For the mod, brilliant mod, i will get many hours to go with these cars, thx so much!

Should we be running the car with traction control?

According to the ReadMe, the car is run with TC. They recommend Low or Medium settings, although in circuits with fast corners it may be turned off. For real, it is set in real time.

well, it really depends on some parameters.

tracks
some are ok with low Tc and some require the medium or high (ISI Montreal for example).

Length of race
If you drive for a long period of time, you will be happy to increase TC at some point

Tire wear
It's also possible to use more TC at the end of tire run.

indeed it's a mix of parameters that should tell you what to do, but the overall most important factor is the driver behaviour himself. some like TC and are fast with it and some are faster without.

If you add the Boost management, you have a totally new way of driving a car in rF IMO.
and dont forget this car is made for endurance races, no sprint

Are there plans to release templates?

Don't agree with you, TC is important in high speed corners as well. (more than you would think)

Not agree with that, perhaps if you consider the the wear of tire due to more under steer with TC on, and I can't confirm if at high speed this is effective. But it's not the subject of this thread .

Well I find I'm easily fastest with TC on high regardless of the track.

thx very much for the mod , haven't tried yet, but I'll do it 2nigth, I do beleive it will be a great mod

now that the thread is "hot" I would like to ask about the "Endurance Series" (the one containing the 2006 ALMS cars)....how far is it?, has it been left out of the program?

sorry to bother with this, but I could imagine many people wondering about the same.

thx again for the Epsilon mod

I love the mod, model and textures are amazing, sounds are excellent, and after a bit of tuning I also like the physics, but, why are the recommended readme profiler settings for the ff so strange?, the dfp settings shown in the readme are "old/arcade game" ones, as centre spring, damping and spring effect are all handled ingame by most, if not all, sims nowadays and the 100% wheel settings shown will just negate the ingame stuff on the drivers used.
The drivers being used for the piccies are out of date as the 5.02s have more adjustments including allowing games to change the base/profiler settings which may effectivly negate any of your recommended ones if rFactor supports it, which I have little idea of atm as I have not had the time to fiddle with the new drivers/game settings as yet, the profiler settings you show for realfeel are recommended by others for all ISI based sims using standard/tweaked FF, except force strength which recommendations suggest should be set over, but as close to, 100% as feel comfortable to the user to overcome a Logitech driver damper "bug"

Sam

Thanks Marc, wasn't really a criticism, just that FF can be a sore point for some, ;-)) and I do agree that settings for such are personal within the constraints of sim and driver setup, well done on the mod btw, hehe

Don't forget that the setups included in the readme are "for information", it's not mendatory to use them for the mod, and you may have better result with other setups. They are just advice but you're free to use your own settings.

Thank you very much for a very beautiful mod.

I can see lots of time and energy went into creating this car, and I thank you for sharing your creation with the public.

I just had my first go with this - 40 laps of Barcelona, using the setup (with modifications) posted above by Foodie (thanks for posting that, btw! )
Initially I found the car very difficult to drive, but after 20-odd laps I was spinning much less and by the end I felt like I was really starting to get the hang of it, and enjoying it very much.
I think the model and skins look great, the sounds are brilliant, and it's tough but fun and rewarding to drive. So congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped put this mod together.

Brilliant mod, I love it. The cars look awesome. What exactly is the different (except for the graphical differences) between the 07 and 08 cars? Also, is there a chance you can add working ABS in your next version for those of us who find it difficult to brake without it (my pedals are really soft, which makes it extremely difficult). I can add it myself, but then I can't play online without changing it back.

Sorry to say that but it's a replica of the original car which according to the LMS rules dont have any ABS.

The main difference are the position of the wheels on the two cars, not the same wheellbase.
For the ABS, the car not have it, so the mod not have it. I think you must try to test the progressive braking, or check the sensibility of you pedal to try to smooth the tire locks. The brake pressure is not adjustable on the real car we have the information from Eusikadi for all theses specific aspects.
