rF v1255 update (all versions before final "F" build)

For those that wish to update from v1250 to the v1255 here is some information before you proceed.

This update was created to address some online security issues, add additional overall stability, and match the new retail DVD version recently released in Europe. The update consists of these files:
rFactor.exe
rFactor Dedicated.exe
Plugins\NetCommUtilPlugin.dll

PLEASE NOTE: You will be required to reactivate rFactor if you upgrade to v1255. Before you do this, find or get your original confirmation email. Make sure you can locate your Activation Number, Order Number and email address used. If you need a new confirmation email sent out to you, visit this site:
http://csc.trymedia.com/csc/question...ace/index.html

Download the update from any mirror site. First move the original files into a \Backup directory. Unzip the contents of the update ensuring you replace all three files. Once you run the new version of rFactor, it will ask you to Buy/Unlock. Follow the Already Paid link at the lower right of the first purchase screen, using the Activation Number and email address from the confirmation email.

If you need to have your email changed or your activations reset, please send a request to purchase at rFactor net

The retail version 1255 is a compilation of
Full version 1150
Brianza and Jiading circuits
Update version 1250
Panoz Esperante and 2007 Sauber BMW F1 vehicle add-ons
Update version 1255

Q: Can I play online with people who have the retail DVD.
A: Yes, so long as you have upgraded to v1255.

Q: While this update work if I have v1150 or below?
A: No, this update will only work on v1250.

Q: Is there a full install for v1255.
A: There is a retail DVD version of 1255 and a digital version will be made available in the future.

Porked my rFactor install. Activation went fine but now rFactor won't run at all. Runs the opening video, then freezes up solid. Can't even CNTL-ALT-DEL out of it.

Not a happy camper. Looks like it's back to 1250 for me.

Well that bites. I not only burned an activation updating to 1255, which didn't work, I had to burn another one when I rolled back to 1250, which at least does work.

If you run out of activations just follow Gjon's instructions above and that should fix it for you.

any chance you could do a fresh 1150+1120+1255 install to try and get some info on the reason for the failure?
send your order # to me so I can make sure you have plenty of activations.

anyone else that is having an issue, please let me know if you can get any additional info on the problem.

Could you explain why it's necessary to make us re-activate for a patch? I just went through resetting license keys becuase I happen to like a fresh clean OS every 4 months. I dont want to be goin through that crap again. Took me forever to find the order and email I used. Yes I have all the info I need now, saved, but thats not the point, it's ridiculous. If I had known the dl purchase of the game would be like this I'd have waited for a dvd copy myself.

My guess is that the copy protection is not compatible with old licenses (well duh, pretty obvious)

I am experiencing an FPS bug with this new patch. FPS in the spinner is low, and after exiting a session the FPS drops dramatically. Hmm, I'm not sure I like this patch at all. I hope it doesn't require a patch for each mod

Google is your friend. All you had to do was look this up via any search engine. .7z is another archiving program like Winzip or Winrar. Most likely either Winzip or Winrar will extract a .7z archive IF you have one of the newer versions of those two programs.

And before people ask 'Why do they keep re-inventing the same type of programs?' Remember, if folks didn't keep trying to improve things...we'd still all be driving Model T Fords or using 640k of system ram with a 386 Intel cpu. Progress often means re-inventing the wheel.

Then you should be pretty organised and get the activations done when you use the last one and not when you need it again.

You also should be used to backing up your Trymedia License file...

If you had done this you wouldnt need to us an activation for the reinstall back to 1250.

Hell I havnt had to use an activation for MONTHS by backinng that file up....and it will be the first thing I do before trying this one as well.

Personally I have NO problems with this method....hell of a lot easier than Steam or Starforce.

When starting the game for the first time try to give it a while. I let my game sit for almost 7 minutes once I got the welcome screen before it finally loaded.

Hi Gjon, exactly the same problem here. I've setup another rFactor install and got it up to 1250 but now I'm out of activations.

Will I get online mismatches if I have V1250 and others have v1255?
