Woooow. There are no words to thank you guys. I was checking all the GPL sites every hour since the 67 patch came out. I think it's safe to say that this is one of the greatest projects (if not the greatest) for any sim. I guess I better go get some food and drinks since I won't be leaving my desk for a few months.

Again, I really can't thank you guys enough for all the amazing work that you do. Time to read the newspaper and then lap around this masterpiece.

Edit: Just finished my first lap. It took me more than an hour, as I would often stop or even go back to look at some of the stunning details. Let me just say that this is about as close to perfection as something can get. The spectators really make the whole circuit feel alive, the vegetation is superb (almost feels as if I didn't see the same tree twice in a whole lap), the horizons are breathtaking, the number of different asphalt textures (all of them perfect) is incredible, the various vehicles on the side of the road (love to see the occasional R8 Gordini), the writing on the asphalt and walls, the road signs, the painter in Collesano... It's just unbelievable. My hats off to you.

Solo il bello e lirica in lingua locale sembra essere la pi? appropriata parole per descrivere questo progetto.
Scusi questo cattivo utilizzo della lingua Italiana.
Piccolo delle Madonie, Targa Florio,
Molto bello!
Fantastico!
Stupendo!
Inspiratore!
Favoloso!
Tale enorme tela intricata,
Ciao,

In Inglese

Any superlatives are well merited.

I am immensely impressed by the scale, complexity and ambience of this work, the careful blending of hue, brightness and contrast in [ and expert application of ], the textures to convey a Sicillian summer landscape. To make repeating textures that dont look like they repeat is something of an art form in itself!!

I have just done a lap [ 41: 33 in the BT24 ] after not seeing any betas for about four years and this is surprisingly predictable to drive first up at an enjoyable fast pace, without too many mistakes.

Ginetto and your helpers, I think you must be worn out.

RESPECT!!!!

Thanks also to Nigel, who did the groundbreaking work to allow these long tracks to be built. Congratulations on this, your "first born"!

Targa Setups

A 1967 Brabham BT24 setup that might suit you on Targa.

Very easy turn in, very stable on the overrun, very stable under hard acceleration out of slow corners, low second and third gear.

Goes in your;

SIERRA/GPL/Players/Your Player 67 Name/Setups/targa folder.

Also my tuned setup for a nicely balanced, throttle turning Dino Ferrari, to go in;

SIERRA/GPL/Players/Your Player 65 Name/Setups/targa folder.

Plus a 1966 Dino setup, for use if you use this car body for the 2.4 litre 1966 Dino. To go in;

SIERRA/GPL/Players/Your Player 66 Name/Setups/targa folder.

Even though they may look a bit strange; eg no rear roll bar, I suggest driving them smoothly, exactly as they are for a few km on warm tyres, then give them some stick at the limit, before changing them, eh?

Truth be known, my only real contributions to Targa.

Enjoy

EDITS Adjusted top gear ratios in the '67 BT24 setup..Now uploaded as V2 version and added '66 Dino setup.

Holy s**t! Unf***ing believable! I just finished my first lap. I'm glad it was over 'cuz I needed a rest and I think I was developing motion sickness from all the zigs and zags.

My first lap was a 45 something so I've got a lot of work to do. (I'm still learning my way around Clermont Ferrand!)

But what a masterpiece!

Thank you, Thank you, thankyou!

It's here! It's finally here!

Ciao,
Jim, your Italian is very good, better than my English for sure.
When I saw the "Targa is out" thread, I thought that it could be appropriate to say thank-you in Italian to celebrate this masterpiece, but you were faster and already did it.
I can only share your words and say many thanks to all the involved persons, though I realise that this is by far much less than they would deserve.
As to the use of local languages, I'm going to study gaelic to be ready when your full version of TT is out.
Grazie!
Francesco

60fps, 67 mod Targa server up. It will be shut down when we have league races but I'm trying to keep it running as much as possible. You can find it in iGor!

Wait a minute, what a surprise!
I just realised that in 1967 the race took place on May 14th, that's my birth date!
May I consider this track a special present to me?
