[Stc] Mon Ami

What a relief to have this finished. Never again will I try and make a street circuit, so much work !

This is a fictional circuit set in a tropical bayside city. I spent about 2 weeks on this and I used PSP and paint to make it. The AI took me about 3 hours to get right, it took me moving the AI line alot and also restructuring the concrete walls on about half of the corners on the track, no matter how wide i made the line the cars still would hit the walls. This problem is gone except while using Flying_solo's F1 cars (turn 8, have a look at the AI line and they still hit the wall!).

The computers like to go 4-5 wide through the first left-right complex so be careful when playing .

Have fun and please help me to make better tracks in the future by critisising "Mon Ami"

PS: the small picture doesn't give justice to the detail on the track.

Remove those concrete walls (except the pits) and I'll keep it

Well per Raibe's request there is now a stripped version of the track

Sorta what Canadian's did to his "diamond city".

Enjoy

so after not liking to create it, you're still calling it 'your friend'

It looks nice, very nice, especially the version without walls.. i guess i'll test it soon

It was really annnoying to create as it took me a very long time :P . . . i over committed myself. But while I did do that I still did enjoy creating it alot . Even when i just went in game to check out the objects placement i always did 5-10 laps . . . i did that like every 10 minutes.

Thanks for the comments too ! I am happy othersare enjoying my track

man, i know that feeling - i don't remember how many tracks i must have made when creating Nazareth Speedway
awesome track, really! great work, it looks and drives very nicely! i like the walls version like it is. my only gripe is that the AI at checkpoint 4 could be (way) faster, the rest is fine.

@Kermit: I can't tell you how many times i tried to get the AI to go through that little complx without hitting the walls, they seem to want to cut it too tight. The only resolution i could find was to make it as it is, very conservative i know but its the only way the AI will get through without hitting the walls.

Thank you very much for the comments everyone

Excellent track!
I think I like the first version more (although I all the time hit the walls, but thats just me being bad driver), though the second one is nice to drive too.

Ton ami est mon ami.

Awesome track dude! Looks awesome.

Actually, it looks so great that I feel like making a technical street course (somewhere along the lines of Tokyo R256 in GT3).

There are facts that are stimulate other facts. In this case, tracks like yours stimulate me to do my best contructing street tracks to. I?m happy with all this creativity. Go ahead Alaways. As we say here in Brasil: "Mandou Bem!!"

Red Faced

K3rmit I tried that AI line a few times, different variations. I got it to work once with the Formulas and the General, but that was it. What cars were you using when you tested the AI line? I was using the solo's F1 when the problem started, on the best line they still hit the walls. Other larger cars did the same.

HAHA its great to know I am inspiring others to make street circuits . . . thats a fantastic feeling. Thanks for your comments everyone !

ps I like the walled version better as well :P

When making an AI line, you should always optimize it for the standard cars IMO, unless you know the track will mainly be used with a certain model, eg. NASCAR or MotoGP (in which case it is still better to include a standard AI version as well).

Car makers should try to make their cars work on all tracks (that's what the AI level in the car file is for), not the other way round.

that's what i'm preaching since... the beginning of time. perfectly right.

thus i hadn't even tried with Flying_solo's F1 cars. i just did - in 5 out of 15 laps, my 100 AI using the Ferrari crashed at that place. so it's right, you can't really use these cars with my AI mod. of course i'll still keep my mod since the forumula is the car i use most time by far.

i did find some of the sticky-out walls a bit annoying. but then i should watch out for them while driving! i haven't tried the other version, because its just a cheating street circuit! whats a street circuit if you can run off the edge of the road and not take damage???!!!

nice work

I usually like realistic street circuits but somehow I like the non-wall version better this time Good work with the scenery, this one's a blast!
